During our first meeting I was asked to help re-design the existing kitchen. However, as the conversation progressed it became clear that the spacial adjacencies was not ideal and that more could be achieved if the project were enlarged.

After taking downa few walls, adding a few beams and a skylight the new spaces achieved their new functions. The kitchen was shifted to face the beautiful new garden and the original narrow entryway was converted into a large hall with convenient coat closets and storage space. The tv room moved to what used to be the dining room, resulting in a ninety degree shift in spacial functions. Steel with glass doors were used to bring light into to the spaces.

The original decorative elements of the house were maintained. It was also possible to re-use the original tiles in the detailing of the hall bench.
