Monica Heijmeijer

IDI has experience in the design and execution of interior architecture projects for the private as well as office market. IDI works with a large network of professionals to achieve the most successful results. IDI helps its clients find the right balance between the programme of requirements, style and the architecture of the space.

Together we will experience a process leading to the desired goal, following the defined criteria for: style, spaces, furnishings, colour schemes, budget, and time.

Biography

Monica performs every task she undertakes with immense passion. She believes that “where there's a will there's a way”. Monica challenges those who begin by saying “no”. Her interest in interior design and her insistence on perfection ensure that every last detail is completed.

About Monica

Monica grew up in the Caribbean spending her formative years in the Dominican Republic. After graduating from high school she moved to New Orleans Louisiana, USA to study at the School of Architecture at Tulane University. Upon completing her 5-year professional degree program, Monica worked at a local architectural firm in New Orleans.

Vision

Over time, her desire to be close to the user and understand his or her needs inspired her to develop a career in interiors. She believes that buildings are often designed by looking at the exterior and often forgetting the use of the spaces inside.

Interior architecture

In 1984 Monica joined the interiors department of Heery International, a renowned architectural engineering firm, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. At Heery she provided full services to corporate clients such as IBM, Digital Equipment Corporation, the Coca Cola headquarters and Heery’s own offices.

The Netherlands

Monica moved to the Netherlands with her Dutch husband in 1990.

She accepted a job as a consultant at Aspa Office Consultants and later at Twynstra Gudde. Her focus at these companies was on the research, design and implementation of new ways of working office concepts.

Her clients included the Dutch Ministry of Justice, Shell, EMC and Cisco Systems throughout Europe.

New Step

In 2004 Monica decided to start on her own to offer interior design services that focus on the renovation and interior design of homes and small offices bringing her even closer to the needs of the user.
